Why did UK govt abandon testing? It BAFFLES public health experts. This week, the lack of accountability & scrutiny became so alarming that we launched this to try & get these voices heard. An amazing 40k people have already watched: experts being expert

Turns out that in the time of pandemic, people of this country *haven’t* had enough of experts. And they understand that ‘we’re following the science’ is a meaningless catchphrase. Which science? What data?

The point is that my opinions - like yours - are neither here nor there. What matters is scrutiny. Political scrutiny from parliament. And scientific scrutiny from the wider community. We have neither of these things currently. Just a massive vacuum of information

I still can’t believe lobby journalists just allowed themselves to be banished from the room. Image
I’m really not being critical of individual journalists here, who are excellent, but structurally this format inhibits reporters & cedes power to politicians.

There’s arguments of course against, but given that in US for eg, journalists are there in person, I don’t understand why so verboten to raise it. Some journalists are video-calling from their newsrooms, so how is going to Downing Street more risky?
