Those with fairer skin are more likely to have a university education; are more likely to go to college; tend to be in positions of power.
Theories that try to explain the underrepresentation of different groups in terms of discrimination, racism, and privilege are unable to explain how Jews have consistently outperformed their oppressors and why East and Southeast Asian immigrants outperform the white majorities.
That isn't to say that environmental factors such as institutions don't play a role. They obviously do.
