Moving your baby onto a solid diet is an important stage, yes. But it's not the rush and precision exercise many will lead you to think it is. In the midst of all the conflicting advice you will likely get, here are 10 evidence based things to think about

People will try and encourage you to give solids early for lots of reasons - idea it will help them sleep / big babies need solids early / he's watching you eat so needs solids.

On that note, solid foods won't help your baby sleep (sorry). Why would they? Most babies wake for reasons other than hunger - just like adults do. They just need some help getting back to sleep

However you decide to introduce solids, letting babies have finger foods and feed themselves is an important step for lots of reasons. Think of food as a learning experience - taste, texture, smell... playing with food is great!
