always figured the guy who wrote “meditations on the tarot” was catholic due to the outro by balthasar and the photo of it on the popes desk but just found out he wasnt. why would balthasar write the outro to this book
as someone who is christian but also into esoteric / mystical things i think about this all the time. i am so drawn to explaining this whole “situation”. not just this book, its just one book, the whole “big picture”. hours every day. ive heard all sides. vexing. whats the deal
rarely discuss this. im not really swayed by either extreme in terms of what the story is with the post vatican two church. seems like at both ends of the spectrum, well ive heard them out. i dont really think either narrative plays out.
its also interesting because if theres a spectrum of mystical to legalist im all the way on the mystical side. thats just my vibe tho. think about this so much i actually read vatican one and vatican two, i have them in a binder on my shelf. i am drawn like a moth to a light here
like what is this. [???]
apparently he did actually convert (the guy that wrote the book). very interesting quotes here because changing a few terms around this is basically exactly what i tell people when they ask about my own development into becoming christian
