The most significant part of migrant labour force in metros is in construction sector. The funds could have been easily used to provide them with daily essentials.
Karnataka has done a tremendous job in this regard, ensuring food/ groceries supply & payment of wages for Mar. 20.

Karnataka, to cover the entire state, started labour helpline and dedicated teams aimed at identifying and ensuring daily essentials supply including fresh milk. There is another arrangement dedicated to Bengaluru under BBMP doing the same.

Labour officers, tahsildars and even DCs at times keep visiting labour camps in the state to check the supplies. The success rate is of course not 100% but the arrangement is largely effective.
This scheme covers both intra as well as inter state migrant workers. When you have served construction workers, you have taken care of the biggest part of the nuisance. Instead, joke of CMs of Maha, Delhi not only slept but also let the labour instigated to quit their states.
Lastly, if CM of the state cannot take care of migrant labour, then the shameless animal doesn't deserve his state served by that labour. The labour are building his state. And they do it at a bloody cheap price.
One of the ways how labour challenge is managed in Karnataka. UP govt. has also done a similar thing. Something that jokers of chief minister must learn.
