We have performed a high-content RNAi based imaging screen targeting 2231 lncRNAs in human cells. New lncRNAs involved in key stages of cell division such as mitotic progression, chromosome segregation and cytokinesis have been identified. 2/6 
We focused on linc00899, an uncharacterised lncRNA that regulates mitotic progression by binding and repressing transcription of microtubule-binding protein TPPP/p25. 3/6
We have found that linc00899 regulates TPPP/p25 in multiple cell lines. Loss of linc00899 leads to altered microtubule dynamics, chromosome congression defects and reduced tension across sister kinetochores. 4/6
Our comprehensive screen uncovers several lncRNAs involved in genome stability, and reveals a lncRNA that controls microtubule behaviour with functional implications beyond cell division. 5/6
