As with all things Trump, there is no silver bullet, catch-all explanation. It is all of America’s ills combined and exacerbated. Racism. Misogyny. Obscene greed. Capitalized narcissism. Murderous cruelty.

But what needs to be done away with is any notion that Trump is a president acting in any way presidential. He’s not there to help. Fighting a pandemic or saving lives isn’t even a priority.
He’s there to destroy government as an impediment to profit and power. That’s all.

Anything Trump has done to curb the pandemic has only been a result of trying to help himself or his re-election. There is no executive response because there is no executive branch, just a collection of incompetent criminals. Preventable tragedy was the only possible result.
