@GovAbbott Abbott announces the creation of a "strike force" to re-open Texas, headed by the Lt. Governor, advised by medical professionals and business leaders. They've already begun making recommendations.
@GovAbbott Abbott will announce some re-openings today, some on April 27, and more still in May, if testing and hospital capacity goals are met.
Abbott says all stores in Texas can operate on a "retail to go" basis, beginning next Friday. Just like restaurants have been doing.
Doctors have said schools remain unsafe, therefore Abbott orders school classrooms closed for the remained of the 2019-2020 school year. For all public, private and higher learning institutions.
More recommendations are coming on April 27th, Abbott says. All of this is tied to expanded testing, and being confident in hospital capacity.
Questioned by a reporter, Abbott says the new testing will come from the *private* sector.
