A great deal of time has now passed since Sir Keir was elected leader of the Labour Party and after all the vote was quite close.

Is it not therefore time for a confirmatory People’s Vote?

After all, if he believes in democracy, how can he be against more voting?

After all, if he’s convinced that he’s the right leader, why would he fear the electorate? Why’s he so scared of a vote?

Many people have joined the Labour Party since the vote. Some have left. People are entitled to change their minds. After all, we know a lot more about his leadership now than we did then.

The theory of Sir Keir was one thing. The reality of Sir Keir is another. People should be able to vote differently if they now think differently. What was special about that one single vote? Why does that vote and that vote alone have to stand now and forever?

What kind of “democrat” says we can’t change our minds? He must be against another vote because he knows he would lose.

It is malign of my critics to suggest that my ulterior motive in calling for this next and vital vote is to undermine the Labour Party. It is simply a reflection of my commitment to the democratic process and to fairness. That it might harm Sir Keir’s leadership is coincidental.

I don’t know anyone who voted for Sir Keir but when I meet someone who did I ask them to name one benefit - just ONE - of having voted for him and do you know what, then can never tell me.

Don’t misunderstand. Whilst I did not vote for him myself I totally accept and respect the result of the last leadership contest. I am not criticising Sir Keir and don’t know why the Sir Keir people get so defensive. I just think that the time now is the time for a second vote.

I mean really, if we are determined to have Sir Keir, and the Sir Keir people are so convinced he would win again, wouldn’t it strengthen Sir Keir’s hand to have a confirmatory vote? Isn’t a second vote actually HELPFUL to Sir Keir?

There are many young people who weren’t able to participate in the last vote - or didn’t realise how important it was. But it’s their future. Surely Sor Keir respects them? Why wouldn’t he let them vote now we know so much more?

I have seen claims that the vote was interfered with by outside forces. I do not make those claims and I totally respect the result but surely Sir Keir would be more comfortable with a properly overseen second vote that we can be sure is accurate.

That there is now a group of oddball lefties earnestly rebutting this thread on a little thread of their own just makes this all the sweeter.

Many responses have suggested that Sir Keir’s victory is dissimilar to another recent political event, as he supposedly won handsomely.

This is a basic error: it ignores the many people eligible to vote who did not. Plainly they did not support Sir Keir. He lost in a landslide.
