The covid means I can't pick up my MacBook Air in store, but have to rely upon @UPS to deliver it. I'm yet again surprised how craptastic UPS is. How can they be this bad and yet still function???
The delivery says "between 3:30pm and 6:30pm". They rang the bell at 12:01pm. I was on the toilet. I hurried, but the time I got to the door, they were long gone. The delivery requires I sign for it. So they'll try again tomorrow. What time? same: 3:30pm-6:30pm, meaning "any".
The last time I encountered this I had to sign up with their "MyChoice". But the password I wrote down doesn't work, and the password reset feature doesn't work, and because the address already has a MyChoice, I can't create a new one.

The President deserves neither the credit nor the blame you heap on him for how he's handling the pandemic.
We don't live in an autocracy that vests a single person with all the power of government. Yet, people still credit/blame the president as if they were running everything, particularly the economy.
Presidents don't create/destroy jobs, yet all the cable news channels can talk about every election is the president's plan to create job, and past president's job creation numbers. Presidents just don't have that influence.

Bah. It may be I was wrong about this, and that Trump is being less idiotic here than I thought. It's still typical Trump gibberish, and still inappropriate for the leader of the free world, but it may not be as insane as I'd assumed.
As it turns out, Trump's gibberish may actually be based upon research about using certain UV wavelengths that adversely affect viruses without adversely affecting tissue.
It's confusing things, UV sunlight on surfaces and other research using very specific wavelengths, and he's obviously trying to take credit for coming up with the idea, so it's still gibberish worthy criticizing -- but not wholly insane gibberish that it first seems.

The covid-19 is causing an outbreak of pseudo-science. I thought I'd spend some time talking about what science actually is. It can be summarized in the following graph:
This is from a site called "spurious correlations" that evaluates a zillion data sets looking for things that can be correlated against each other, pretending there is correlation when there is none.
The drug hydrochloroquinine may work, which robust studies in the future will tell us more definitively. But all the studies we have now fail to show that it works. One of their consistent flaws is this spurious correlation.
