Governor Brian Kemp’s decision to reopen Georgia is an act of war against all Georgians, especially Southwest Georgians who are predominantly Black. Some of us are fighting COVID-19. Kemp is waging a war against Georgians. This is not hyperbole. This is based on data. 1/7
When I studied @nytimes county data this morning, I found that 5 of the top 10 counties with the highest per capita death rates in the U.S. are in Georgia. Black people are the largest racial group in all five of these counties in Southwest Georgia (and 7 of the 10 counties). 2/7

Kemp’s attack on Georgians, especially Southwest Georgians, is personal to me. My mother is a Georgia native. My partner is from Dougherty County in Southwest Georgia. Doughterty is surrounded by Randolph, Terrell, Early, and Mitchell Counties. 5/7
Healthcare is lacking there. Our awareness of their suffering is lacking. It is not like the nation’s other major outbreak zone—my hometown of New York City—where there are so many hospitals, doctors, media outlets, and reporters to fight and expose the fight. 6/7
Southwest Georgians have been suffering in the shadows. And how many more people will suffer because of Kemp’s warlike decision? Policies kill. And racist policies have always killed Black people in the shadows as America looked away. 7/7

To claim the choices Black people make are partially responsible for health disparities, for why Black people as a group are more likely to have diseases that make COVID-19 deadly, is to say Black people as a group are making inferior health choices than White people. 2/17
It is saying if Black people only make as good choices as White people, then Black people would be as healthy as White people. That we can’t blame the coronavirus disparities all on racism, we must blame some of it on inferior Black health choices. 3/17

Why has Biden outlasted all those more talented moderates and progressives? It’s not his ability, feats or campaign. Here are the 3 reasons Biden is the front runner.

1. He’s a White male.
2. He’s a centrist White male.
3. He’s a centrist White male who served as Obama’s VP.
All of the other reasons go back to these 3 reasons. This campaign season has demonstrated once again that one’s identity, ideology, and connections are more important than one’s ability.
Forgive me for first names, but Kamala, Corey, Andrew, Julian, Bernie, Amy + Liz were not "electable" because they aren't centrist White men. Pete wouldn't have struggled w/ Black voters if he had been Obama's VP. Bloomberg was the $500 million wild card that Liz ripped apart.

On Super Tuesday, Biden’s largest margins over Sanders among Black voters were with Southern voters (and older voters). For example, Biden beat Sanders by 62 points in Alabama and 43 points in SC compared to 7 points in MA and 4 points in MN, according to CNN exit polls. 1/
To specify that Biden’s Black support is primarily older and southern is not to belittle older Black southerners—it is to speak from the available data. 2/
To claim Sanders has a problem with Black people—as if Biden’s mostly southern and older Black primary voters are representative of Black people nationwide (young and old, voters and non-voters)—is to not speak from the available data. 3/
