the compiler make.log has a bunch of warnings for the european branch of crystal when it notices the mobile phone connect data isn't present
there's a test html document going over the effects of trading on jp gold versus usa yellow
I found a report from MarioClub that goes on about a bug on SGB?
But the Super Game Boy,and the normal Game Boy for that matter, aren't supported...
This report was filed 3 months before release also, which?
Confuses me?
I'm curious when the decision was made to be GBC-exclusive.
There's a file from April 1999 that discusses soaking trees with Honey, and encountering a Heracross the next day as a result, this being discussed 6 months before release. So Honey was also in pretty late?
staff complaining about not having shiny pokemon

correspondence on august 9th, 1999, from gf to nintendo, discussing release dates and trying to speed things along because of the anime
here's the masuda roast email
Correspondence from GF on 8/14/1999, discussing a bug caused by...static electricity?
I haven't posted these at all, but there's frequent correspondences that are essentially patch notes, outlining bugs fixed, content added, and so on.
This one is from 8/16/1999
8/18/1999 they had to remove boy scouts f
8/18/1999 they also frequently send mario club lists of things to asssist, such as encounter tables for both gold and silver, tm locations, item lists, and such
8/23/1999 A pretty substantial update, trainers strengthened, Pokerus given a name, and the conversion of all songs to stereo was completed. I find it interesting, as I assume most players will play in mono, but they still went to the effort of redoing songs in stereo late in...
8/24/1999 - Egg group stuff always phased me, it's so very complicated, and I assumed the names given were fan-names but this seems pretty inline with what people use...
Also, Google Translate translates 15 as..ace!
9/16/1999 - A hugely substantial update as they near the end, with a lot changed:
Items received from wild Pokemon(like mushrooms) nerfed in value
Added music-box bonus BGM to The End screen
Changed several Pokemon named for legal reasons
Highly detailed song patch notes
Here's the untranslated, direct renamings of those Pokemon.

Romanizations
9/16/1999
Appreciating this Mario Club member who saw a trainer with level 10 Gyrados and asked what we all would have wanted to ask
Honestly all of the 9/16 correspondence is amusing because it's a lot of goofy responses. One person notes that the Victory Road healer heals you at full HP and says it's weird, GF just says they're not changing it, someone complains about SGB graphics, they say they don't care
Unsure as to why the change, but the 9/9 and 9/11 correspondences are all highly detailed patch notes, much more detailed than before, with full text excerpts..
Also, the previous two tweets are incorrect and that was the 9/6 correspondence.
More names changed due to trademark issues

200 マーベラ → ムウマ
231 マメゾウ → ゴマゾウ

AKA

200 Mābera → Mūma (Misdreavus)
231 Mamezou → Gomazou (Phanpy)

This is Misdreavus' second name change due to trademark issues, goodness.
9/21/1999 - An interesting correspondence on the handling of trade-only evolutions, and their checks to avoid cloning by pulling the cord at a precise time
10/6/1999 - This guide on Pokerus is interesting, no idea if it has any details not yet known, but it's at least neat to read the data straight from the source
10/8/1999 - A 8/18 orrespondence that added the Red battle on Mt. Silver, noted that it chose not to auto-save after it, and this correspondence on 10/8 months later has them explain and justify that decision...
10/2/1999 - This correspondence outlines when SRAM portions are initialized into banks, which, and where, and it's really interesting reading the justifications for opening up banks and such
1/6/2000 - A correspondence from post-release, noting bugs from users, and sending save files(compressed in .lzh) in hopes of finding a solution.
This correspondence is named 金銀, and the 3 attached save files have traces in other folders, however the folders are empty.
The final correspondence is from 1/11/2000, and is more bug reports and save files from users.
I've noticed that, despite all attachments EVER sent in these correspondences being contained in adjacent, empty folders, that some ARE still here, and I'll check those out now.
I found "encounters ver4.3" through 4.8, and I'm assuming this is the encounter table, although those were supposed to be split between Gold/Silver...
It's Something, and it's in .fmj, which is a format I don't quite get, and the header is has is Something.
I found more versions of this including ones titles "encounterk", so that may be the version split.
Further, I found some lists that have version available in xls(Excel), and fmj interchangeably, so I would guess it's a similar format?
PM2 personal ver5.2(1007).xls
A master list of various data (the top row is the Google Translated)
It includes base stats, gender(ratio?), and various other stats about all Pokemon in the game. It also evaluates all Pokemon by "Rank", and gives them a rating based on their BST
Hit the character limit, but yeah the second image is them sorted by Rank, and all Johto Pokemon seem to lack romanizations and are also all in red.
シロガネ(0924).xls
A map of a dungeon, unsure which?
あークリちゃん.txt - 12/22/2000: A report from during localization of Crystal, on the serious issues preventing the Cell Network features from being available outside of Japan, and suggesting ideas to rework the content that previously required it.
Crystal.mpg - 11/30/2000: A mpeg-1 video showing an issue with Jynx's battle entry animation, where it would begin corrupting at the end.
Plopped open Crystal-U from 11/14/2000 and it's already fabulous from the very first text screen
Every text screen that wasn't imported from Gold/Silver has this basically all over it.
Just like I remember
guy walks up you on the street, asks you this, what do you do
Well it seems this will be a bit more complicated than "just plug in a save file"
I GOT IT.
Holding Start+Select while pressing Debug Room opens the menu!!!!!!!
So again, a lot of lines unique to Crystal are untranslated, and use the English font, so they're just broken. Seemingly all new lines aren't adjusted yet, however Nurse Joy at Goldrenrod IS translated, and she dubs the center- the PokeCom.

The prior rom was from 11/14/1999, the rom from 11/29/1999 is fully localized in the PokeCom!
It seems even a fully completed file can't access the PokeCom's features on this rom, I loaded a different, fully 100%'d savefile on here, and it kept saying they were still building, so I guess that's a no...
Since it was split a bit, here's the final list of names changed during Gold/Silver production, due to Trademark reasons!
Most notably, Misdreavus got its name changed Twice.
I was asked to check the final roms, and it turns out the debug version of the final rom had a few additions, more sidebar information, and a hall of fame clearing button, as well as a checksum calc! The checksum calculator takes...minutes to execute.
crystal calculating its own rom's checksum
Apparently the program I used to extract the .zip containing everything, just, hugely messed up and didn't give me 90 text files containing correspondence, but, I'm sure it's more of the same, I'll get to that some other time because it's Late
Found a series of screenshots used to communicate a visual bug, and I'm curious what these were taken with??
Last thing for the night, I found that the localizations have their own interesting things within their folders? The Korean stuff has a text entry program, and also has bitmaps of the entire Korean GameBoy font.
OH BOY DON'T MIND IF I DO
it runs at unlimited speed and i have no idea how to change it
also the emulator apparently doesn't work unless the time it set to be pre-2002
Came across a modified US Gold rom in some Korean GS test files, this one seems to be standard US GS, but with a new, BIG font!
