NYC’s Poison Control Center handled at least 30 cases of possible exposure to disinfectants between Thursday at 9:00 pm and Friday at 3:00 pm, the New York Daily News reports.
This comes just after President Trump had suggested during his daily briefing that injecting people with disinfectant could eradicate the virus in a person's body. Last year in New York City, the Poison Control Center managed only 13 similar cases, the Daily News reports.
Trump has attempted to walk back his comments, saying he meant it ‘sarcastically’ and said it just ‘to see what would happen.’

This comes after President Trump told governors on a phone call earlier this week that the federal government could not help them, and instead told them ‘try to get it yourselves.’ There are now over 6,500 coronavirus cases within the United States, including 115 deaths.
