“It’s not the place of socialists in the west/global north to criticise DPRK” roughly translates as “oppression/exploitation is bad when it happens to me, but the oppression of people in North Korea is not my problem.” That’s not socialism, it’s solipsistic inverted-nationalism.
Like... if you’re going around claiming to be a revolutionary, a police/prisons abolitionist, a fighter against oppressive social ideology around gender and the family, etc., but are simultaneously making excuses for hyper-carceral, ultra-conservative totalitarian states...
...what does that say about your worldview apart from “I want freedom for myself, but people living in ‘anti-imperialist’ countries need to take one for the team so their governments can stay in power and continue to (claim to) ‘oppose imperialism’”?
