IFF has filed multiple RTIs with the @MoHFW_INDIA seeking information regarding the legislative framework, guidelines and governmental committees governing the use of the @SetuAarogya App, especially the safeguards in place to ensure user data protection and privacy.

@MoHFW_INDIA has replied to the RTI stating that they do not hold any such information and RTI request is being transferred to the National Informatics Centre. An RTI filed with the @GoI_MeitY received a similar response.

Transfer of these RTIs by the @MoHFW_INDIA indicates that they have minimal involvement with @SetuAarogya which is primarily being helmed by NIC.

It is inherently problematic that the @MoHFW_INDIA does not have the relevant information as this raises serious concerns about the intention behind the collection of data by the Aarogya Setu App which has been publicized as an app providing essential health services.

IFF has drafted a working paper which highlights that apps such as Aarogya Setu should solely be used by public health authorities and departments.
