The Senba Building in Osaka, has the most wonderful narrow atrium, a remnant from the time when the area was famous for its many wholesale merchants (the atrium made it easy to pull in wagons and trucks). Built in 1925 in concrete and brick it is perfectly preserved.
The building covers about 870m², three above floors and one basement floor with a taller tower structure. From the outside it does not look like much today, but is a perfect example of a local vernacular, combining offices and warehouses.
“The greenest building is the one that is already built.” —Architect Carl Elefante
