@melissapope94@mernickerson@ParklandsLeeds@chrisdysonHT Sure. It is part of our adaptation, inheritance & evolution topic. Last wk we they looked at their own choice of animal & identified its adaptation. Today's lesson focus was whether adaptations are useful in all environments & what happens if they're not.
@melissapope94@mernickerson@ParklandsLeeds@chrisdysonHT We had 6 stations set up - each station offers a different type of food. Each group visits each of the stations in turn, in each group 1 student is the bird & they have a utensil which is their beak. They have to collect/eat as much food at that station as they can in 1 minute
@melissapope94@mernickerson@ParklandsLeeds@chrisdysonHT Station 1 - seeds (pasta which they have to break in half to simulate cracking open seeds.) Station 2 - pictures of small rodents that they have to cut up. Station 3 box filled with water & lentils or rice to simulate pond weed - they have to scoop out as much as they can
An update from Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe #BookmarkProject. The school has been closed since March and Covid cases in the area are v.low due to the distance from pretty much anywhere! The teachers have been busy though getting ready to welcome the children back 1)
With school closed & many parents out of work there are no school fees coming in. The school has started some income generating projects for the school - planting a new field of banana plants and the purchase of 100 broiler chicks to raise and sell to raise funds 2)
The children will be involved in looking after both With the support of @mercycorps the school is building some new toilets & we have helped with funding for some of the building materials. We have recently transferred the money to pay for the construction of another new block 3)
