Reading this article from an old friend of mine brought home the fact that the 3rd world poor, and to a certain extent the 1st world deplorables, are the pollution the clean, whether East Asian or European, are trying to get rid of.

When you lockdown a 3rd World city you kill people. If you don't you kill them too. The problem is all the teeming poor dreaming of a cell phone, hungering for a life like their South Korean soap opera heroes.
In its heyday globalization allowed these teeming poor to work as low end labor in the middle east, the shipping industry, as domestics anywhere. You name it, we scrub it. Now they're just public health hazards.

The CCP took the bait, making itself an issue in 2020.
A lot of countries have been grievously hurt by Corona. Japan, Australia, Korea, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, the oil producers. None of them can deflect the anger on Trump. By turning 2020 into a referendum on China, Beijing will put Biden in a tough spot.
If 2020 becomes the "China election" a lot of allies, especially those in the Indo-Pacific cannot afford to see China win.

If 2016 was the "Flight 9/11 election" then maybe 2020 is collectively the Point of No Return political decision moment for most of the world.
One has the sense of something gigantic falling without being quite sure of what it is.
