It should take a little while for a package to get to you. Moving items across thousands of miles in an efficient manner (that accounts for environmental impact) is not a fast process.

In order implement free one-day shipping (which they've now basically abandoned), Amazon had to create their own shipping network from the ground up. Their private shipping army is shoddy, unregulated, and dangerous.
