In return for for this taxpayer funded activity, Forrest has considerably enhanced his his standing with both the Australian & Chinese governments (whose Consul General Forrest brought along to the press briefing) & his ability to call in favours from both governments. (2/7)
Forrest's well publicised acts of philanthropy amount to a tiny fraction of the tax he refuses to pay. Not to mention the money he saved from running a tax-deductible campaign against the Minerals Resource Rent Tax, which helped deliver government to Tony Abbott. (3/7)
Forrest's wealth has been accumulated through the exploitation of mineral resources & short changing Indigenous land owners by tying up claims in the courts for decades, lobbying governments for favourable policy (or calling in favours) & his ace in the hole, the Indue card.(4/7)
Andrew Forrest could shove his philanthropic activities up his arse and still contribute considerably more to this nation by simply paying his taxes and compensating Indigenous land title holders at the same rate other mining companies (who are far from generous) do. (5/7)
