Rohit Gurunath Sharma was born on April 30, 1987 in Bansod, Nagpur Maharashtra, to Gurunath Sharma, the Caretaker of a storehouse for a transport firm, and Purnima Sharma. He speaks fluent Telegu as it's his mother tongue.

When Rohit was just one and a half years old, his family shifted to Dombivli and since his parents couldn't really manage the expenses of two children. He was raised by his grandparents and uncle and visited his parents every weekend.

At the age of 8, convince his uncle to give him Rs.200 to attend a coaching camp led by Dinesh Lad. Seeing his potential, Lad, who also coached at Swami Vivekanand International School which had better cricketing facilities, told him to switch to that school.

At first Rohit was hesitant about joining the new school as he knew it would be an expensive affair and he knew his family won’t be able to afford the school fee. But if one has it in them, then life does give them their share of chances.

Coach Dinesh Lad somehow arranged a scholarship for Rohit and he didn't pay a penny and did well in cricket or the next four years. Lad soon realized the potential in Rohit’s batting and told him to focus on his batting as well.

From someone who would bat at no. 8 and 9, Rohit was asked to open the batting and he delivered on Coach Lad’s confidence scoring an unbeaten 120 in his first Inter-School match during Harris and Giles school tournament as an opener.

Rohit Sharma made his domestic cricket debut (List A) for West Zone in their Deodhar Trophy against Central Zone at Gwalior in March 2005. During the same tournament, he gained attention for scoring an unbeaten 142 in 123 balls against North Zone at Udaipur.

Sharma Scored 57 and 22 during his first-class debut for India A against New Zealand A in July 2006 at Darwin.

He made his Ranji trophy debut in 2006-2007, during which he scored a double century against Gujrat.

101*(45) helped to win the game against Gujrat when team was trouble at 67/4. He is the first Indian to get a T20 hundred which helped to make into the T20 WC squad.

In the final against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma Scored 30*(16) which has been vital in the end. India won the T20 World Cup 2007 and Rohit Scored 88 runs without any dismissed and a youngster was born.
