The $2 trillion coronavirus relief package made the rich richer and left working people with crumbs.

Instead of another handout for corporations and the wealthy, here's what needs to be in the next package to actually help working Americans.

Thread.
An essential workers bill of rights:

—Health and safety protections
—Hazard pay
—Collective bargaining protections
—Universal paid sick leave
—Whistleblower protections
—An end to worker misclassification of independent contractors
—Child care support
—Full health care coverage
Economic relief for all people impacted for the duration of this crisis:

—Paycheck Guarantee Act to keep people on payrolls

—Cancel rent & mortgage payments

—Emergency housing assistance & a moratorium on utility shut-offs

—$2,000 monthly payments

—Student debt cancellation
Health care for all who need it via:

—Medicare

—The Emergency Health Care Guarantee Act, which empowers Medicare to use relief funding to cover all of the costs of treatment for the uninsured and all out-of-pocket costs for those with insurance for the duration of the pandemic
State and local aid (with parity for D.C., territories, and tribes) proportional to need so communities can continue to fund schools, mental health services, Medicaid, public health departments, firefighters and teachers, health and safety officers, roads and bridges, and more.
Pause corporate acquisitions during the crisis.

Tie corporate aid to companies retaining their workforces, halting stock buybacks/CEO bonuses, and protecting workers rights.

Ensure loans to small businesses actually go to small businesses, not big franchises or private equity.
Ensure relief aid:

— Is accessible to everyone in America, regardless of immigration status.

— Addresses the disproportionate impacts of infection rates, access to health care, and economic hardship facing Black, Latino, Native American, and LGBTQIA communities.
Ensure care and prevention measures are accessible to people who are incarcerated.

Make elections safe and accessible by including funding for states to implement universal mail-in voting.

Protect the United States Postal Service.
