Hong Kong democracy protesters are planning to hold multiple flashmob rallies later Friday, defying restrictions on gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic as anger towards Beijing rekindles — @AFP

This is the kind of online flyer doing the rounds. We haven’t found a good explanation for why it’s being called Operation Pegasus (the name of a British rescue operation in WW2).

However a note of caution...
Some of the chatter this morning on the telegram groups is fretting that today’s protests plans are some sort of trap set up by the pro-Beijing camp, so we may not see much turnout.

Protests expected from 2pm. Watch this space.
Some telegram channels now suggesting activists should spend the week shopping at "yellow" businesses (pro-democracy businesses).

Apart from a brief gathering in Shatin that was broken up by pepper spray, May Day passed off quietly in Hong Kong.

@HawleyMO @AFP @rasfan Hawley, a Republican senator for Missouri, made a quick two day visit to HK and is a so-sponsor of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act.

Last night he was in Mongkok, which saw some pretty messy scenes.

In this amazing "graffiti village", local artist Wu Tsun-hsien is drawing crowds back.

Dipping his brush into a tin of beige emulsion, Wu, carefully applies new layers of paint to his latest production -- a vibrant rural scene depicting farmers in traditional weave hats tending to a flock of animals.
"These drawings attracted many tourists to come visit," the 55-year-old artist explained. "The old people who were left here are no longer so bored. This was my biggest gain."
