Interesting to see @GavinWilliamson's notice of disapplication of bits of Education Act allowing prosecution of parents for not securing children's attendance at school - sensible. This is the duty of parents to educate their children "either by regular attendance at school or otherwise". You might think that it isn't that big a deal because it's effectively unenforceable but would have been better if it was disapplied too legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/56/…
Another way of looking at it is that if parents retain a duty to educate their children, and they cannot by law send them to school, then the Secretary of State has a duty to assist them in doing so because of s.10
