From 2014-2015 total funding for NHS dentistry decreased by 4% in real terms, while charges individual patients pay to access NHS dentistry increased by 9% in real terms
There is considerable variation in NHS dentists per head of the population. Top place is Bradford City. Bottom place is South Lincolnshire.

International comparisons in dentists per head of the population does not shine a positive light on the UK. Practicing dentists per 10,000 population is 5.3 in the UK compared to 8.5 in Germany. 2018 or nearest year data available.
Regional differences in UDAs per head of the population varied considerably in 2018-2019. Top with 2.44 UDAs was South Tyneside and bottom with 1.02 was Tower Hamlets
Hot topic - how successful were people in accessing NHS dentists?

Most unsuccessful was West Norfolk (17.5% of patients unsuccessful when trying to get an appointment) and least unsuccessful was Nottingham North and East (1.7% were unsuccessful)
Who had the highest % delivery of contracted NHS dental activity by parliamentary constituency?

Houghton and Sunderland South at 125%

And the lowest delivery of contracted NHS dental activity?

Sunderland Central at 74%
For 5-9 year olds dental caries hospital episode figures decreased by 4% from 2014-15 to 2018-19. In 2018-19, there were 25,702 hospital episodes (7.3 episodes per 1,000) in the 5-9 year age group.

Such interesting data. It would be great to have a webinar and Q&A on the report - detailing and interpreting the data. Any dental professional up for that?
