Spain's way of counting COVID-19 deaths sounds exactly like the UK's recently revised method: all deaths everywhere count, but only if the victims tested positive for COVID-19 (i.e. untested victims don't count, even if strongly symptomatic).

Surely the relevant nightly Global Death comparison slide needs to be amended going forward to say that Spain's counting method *is* compatible with the UK's, and therefore can be used for comparisons?

And as the slide from 29 April made clear, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden already also include care home deaths. Spain does too (see first tweet). So all European countries chosen for comparison are like-for-like. Only the US may be an outlier.
