TF Torrance's "Space, Time and Resurrection" contains a chapter on the Nature of the Ascension that I've been re-reading today.
Where is the body of Jesus Christ today? TFT says the Reformed answer is in the extra calvinisticum 'the Calvinists extra'
TFT explains that "the Eternal Logos of God did enter space and time, and yet did not cease to be what he eternally was in himself, the Creator Word in whom all things consist and by whom all things derived and continue their being"
TFT then links Ascension to the Eucharist in similar terms that the bread and wine in reformed sacramentology
"Here we must think of the Sacraments with their physical elements as pledges of our participation in that whole reality of the risen humanity in Christ, given for us in that whole reality of the risen humanity in Christ" p.142
The Reformed Tradition also allows for a real physical presence understanding of the Eucharist. George Hunsinger argues for transelementation.
Where is the Ascended body of Jesus? Partake the Eucharist — the bread and wine — and behold the body that was broken for you.
Additional TFT links the Resurrection and the Ascension together, and therefore all people who have had their eyes open to Jesus have also encountered the Ascended Jesus.
