Random thought: Now that we've established that "Bank teller," which was a solid Nigerian middle class job just 18 years ago is being decimated by tech and soon to be extinct, what "legacy" jobs out there in Nigeria can still support families and help people plan for the future?
Medical professionals - Only viable at very senior levels, otherwise they all migrate.

Lawyer - Market oversupply. underpaid and overworked. Not family friendly.

Engineer - Depends on what kind

Teacher - Underpaid. Also soon to be extinct.

Civil servant - Underpaid.
Pilot - Extremely high financial barrier to entry. Existentially threatened by autonomous aircraft development.

Oil worker - Soon to go the way of the T Rex

Stockbroker - They still exist? Trading what? NSE shares?

Management personnel - Oversupply. Soon to be underpaid.
Journalist - Underpaid. Overworked. Undervalued. Threatened by govt overreach and financial bullying from private sector.

Programmer - Depends on seniority. There are literally poor entry level developers.

Creative - Underpaid. Undervalued. Usually the family's black sheep.
Accountant/Auditor/Tax professional - Only as relevant as the economy is strong. Also existentially threatened by tech.

Banker (Actual banker, not support staff working for a bank) - Very slow to hire, very quick to fire. Job security = zero.

Consultant - For who?
That leaves us with:

Commercial sex worker - High risk of rape, police violence etc. However, income guaranteed.

Internet fraudster - Success rate <1%. Social ceiling.

Corrupt politician - Success rate <0.1%. Bastard.

Armed forces - Underpaid. High risk of transfer to Dutse.
And finally we have:

Social media influencer

Instagram/TikTok skitmaker

Gossip & Lifestyle blogger

Vlogger/Podcaster

Musician

Actor

Footballer.

LMAO at our collective future.
