But she is, unfortunately, absolutely right.

I can't tell whether my unwillingness to believe it's too late reflects rational humility about my inability to predict the future, optimism borne of patriotism, or denial. I sense she shares my frantic sense that we need to snap Americans out of this before it's too late--
but what if it's already too late?
