BREAKING: @GovMikeDeWine announces $775M in Ohio budget cuts, with most coming to Medicaid, K-12 education and higher education.

The state is not spending a dime (yet) from its $2.7 billion "Rainy Day Fund."
DeWine explained the Rainy Day decision, saying the state shouldn't use this money until it has to.

several public universities in Ohio have already announced devastating cuts in recent days. This is not going to help

GOP State Rep. Nino Vitale on why he won’t wear a face mask: “This is the greatest nation on earth founded on Judeo-Christian Principles. One of those principles is that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. That image is seen the most by our face.”
For those new to the Rep. Vitale show, in the past month he's:

- Called the Jewish @OHdeptofhealth director a "globalist"
- Told Ohioans should ignore the state's COVID-19 orders
- Had a YouTube video taken taken for spreading misinformation
- Said Bill Gates created the virus
- Told his constituents that "#MasksDoNotWork"
- Claimed DeWine/Acton are spreading propaganda
- Said the @OHdeptofhealth virus death/positive cases statistics are guesswork

(this could go on for awhile longer, but you get the point)

IMPORTANT THREAD: I want to clearly lay out the doubletalk and contradictions from @GovMikeDeWine + @LtGovHusted on the Ohio face mask mandate reversals -- using their own words.
March 22: I want to quickly reference the day Ohio's shutdown orders (biz closings, etc.) were first announced.

Two big takeaways: Ohioans *must* listen to new gov't guidelines, and those guidelines are based on *health.*
Monday, April 27: Gov. DeWine announces the new "Protocols For All Businesses," which includes a requirement for "face coverings" for all employees and clients/customers:

THREAD: I've read a lot of questions/criticism about reporters' coverage of anti-gov't COVID-19 protests. I think the reporting thus far is defensible, but that newsrooms are currently at a crossroads.

Let me put on my best @jayrosen_nyu hat and try to explain it...

I think there are many explanations for the protest coverage to this point over the past week or so:
1. After the rush of reports about major shutdowns + event cancellations, things have slowed in terms of fewer bombshells to report. Yes, there are still loads of important COVID-19 stories to cover, but these protests come amid a sort of lull of daily updates/reporting routines
