As of May 04, 2020, among closed cases:

74.40% are reported recoveries

25.60% are reported deaths

Not all recoveries are reported. The percentage of closed cases reported as recoveries has remained above deaths for the last 40 days.

As of May 05, 2020, the percentage of deaths rose 4.03% over those reported on May 04, 2020. This continues the pattern of a Tuesday spike (weekend reporting lag). Also, a few states cleared an additional reporting backlog, which supplemented the death coun today.

As of May 05, 2020, total reported tests increased by 3.56%. Total new active cases increased by 1.86%. The trend is still toward leveling for the last 31 days. The percentage of positive tests has been dropping lately. Watch this.

Summary: A spike in reported deaths as the weekend lag cleared. Several states also cleared reporting backlogs. Recoveries are showing good growth, though not all states are reporting them. All other trends are toward slowing growth or leveling.
