Set aside the casual dismissal of monthly Vietnam-war-level death tolls as just "making other people comfortable."
It's bizarre to ignore that there IS actually way to re-open that *doesn't* involve letting all those people die.

Lockdowns are NOT meant to be permanent. They're meant to buy time.
The fact that most of the country hasn't yet been hit like NYC means *those measures are working*.
We've got plenty of evidence now to show the alternative: what happens when this virus gets out of hand.

But we need to be USING the time we're buying. And the USG isn't.
So anyone who is deeply tired of all this (and my family certainly is) should be screaming their lungs out urging elected officials to prepare us to reopen SAFELY.

We're the only rich country facing death tolls this high, this consistently, for this long. Even the worst-hit EU countries have begun sustained decline; we haven't. Our govt is doing uniquely badly.

So don't be mad at the the people saying "let's not reopen yet if it means more Vietnam-war death tolls."
Be mad at the politicians whose ineptness is giving us no options besides nuking our hospitals or nuking our economy. Demand more of *them*.
