So, I'm gonna wade into this @politicalmath thing because I was one of the folks who RTed the @BadCOVID19Takes shot. I have no idea why people, pro and con, are losing their shit over this. It's just a "didn't age well" bad take that got zinged. Not a hanging offense.

I don't know the guy. He claims his tweet was taken out of context. I read the thread and disagree; I think he was riffing back and forth with a guy who has a lot of bad COVID takes. Later, he admitted his estimates were bad b/c of things he didn't expect. /2
Well, yeah, that's fine, but maybe that's the lesson right there: Don't take a flyer based on partial information. We've all been there, but especially now, maybe it's a good time to think twice about making half-assed guesses about pandemics on Twitter. /3
Unfortunately, he *also* has a tweet in which he says that *others* who made bad takes should be remembered forever and put on a list and never trusted again. Hard to be the victim when you've something like said that, imo. Not surprising people took him up on it. /4
With all that said, those of you harassing this guy or calling his boss are lunatics. You make a bad call on Twitter, and people zing you for it. That happens. Happens to me all the time. But trying to burn down the guy's job because you think he's wrong? That's just nuts. /5
We should be (mostly) forgiving of bad takes, but obviously, that's harder to do if the tweeter himself has argued that for not forgiving such takes from others and that we should "put those people on a list and never trust them again." Kind of walking right into it there. /6
Now, as usual, we have other people piling in, saying they, too, should quit Twitter, no conversations are possible, this is a swamp, and on and on. Lots of drama.

It's okay to be wrong. I'm a regular at it. But some ideas:
- Don't guess at scary medical data when you don't know what's going on
- Also, don't harass people, dox them, try to fire them
- Screenshot and delete bad takes. It's okay to do that.
- Get on with your lives.
