The number of dangerous conspiracy theories and the amount of disinformation being shared right now is mind boggling. It’s mentally exhausting and so disheartening. 1/?
I wish I didn’t feel like physicians, other medical professionals, and scientists are obligated to speak out about all this nonsense and educate the public, but I do. It’s an important part of our job, unfortunately. 2/?
I have disinformation fatigue for sure, as do many others (give a shout out of solidarity below if you’re feeling it too) yet we trudge on trying to squash the nonsense and provide evidence based information. 3/?
My physician groups are inundated with mentally exhausted physicians discussing how disheartened they are with the shear volume of disinformation being shared. We’re discussing this more than we are Medicine right now, and that is a shame. 4/?
Please stop believing things that have no scientific basis. The medical and scientific community is not out to hurt and/or kill you. We are not lying to you. We are not “brainwashed”. We are not the bad guys. 5/?
The idea that there is a mass global conspiracy theory amongst the medical and scientific community trying to harm the public is ridiculous. The fact that people believe that a small minority of people are the only ones to know the “truth” is even crazier. 6/?
From one of the amazing rebuttals I’ve posted regarding the ridiculously false video Plandemic: “It is exactly why people are prone to conspiracy theories. 7/?
A good conspiracy theory turns the believer into a hero, a warrior with secret knowledge that none of the other ignorant “sheeple” know, against powerful forces arrayed against him. 8/?
A good conspiracy theory almost always has a part at the end in which the “people” (in this case, the people believing the conspiracy theory) “wake up” and see what is being “suppressed” by the powerful forces seeking to keep them ignorant. 9/?
Conspiracy theories like this both make the believer feel special and brave for having secret knowledge and fighting to make it public, but also provide an explanation for bad things happening in the world. 10/?
Yes, the conspiracy theory in Plandemic is utterly ridiculous to those of us who know science, medicine, and history, but most people don’t know the relevant science, medicine, and history. To them, it sounds plausible.”

Please stop the craziness. 11/11
