Just a bit about him if y’all don’t know, Andre was the guy you’d ALWAYS see artist after artist thanking him in their awards speeches and stuff cuz of starting so many ppl’s careers. You couldn’t help but know he was cuz they always said his name

But he also produced TV shows and movies and ting too eh?

Well Andre CREATED and produced that show that pretty much made Malik Yoba famous

Andre legit mentored Puff and the story goes that after Puff got fired — cuz he basically had to be fired to be pushed to start his own shit... then P went on to start Bad Boy records (and signed BIG — WHEW!) and eventually became the massive music mogul that Puffy is basically

And like this man was also responsible for launching soooooo many ppl’s careers — Mary J, MF GUY okay, JODECI — MY teenage FAVES! And The Lost Boyz (I had the biggest crush on Mr. Cheeks... mostly cuz his voice was so raspy and ting lol)

ummm who else, Al B, Mario Winans and that white boy group what was their names.... 98 degrees lol but they were big still back in the 90s and shit especially that nick lachey guy lol (I’m kidding Nick in case 90s fan boy twitter jumps down my throat!)

And omg HEAVY D & THE BOYZ who worked with Andre and produced ENTIRE soundtracks for major major movies and tv and ting that were so big in the 90s like Strictly Business — WHICH legit MADE Halle mf Berry cuz that was her first big time role don’t forget!

A lot of ppl don’t know that because of Andre’s role into launching Heavy D & The Boyz, you got the ICONIC theme song for IN LIVING COLOUR HELLO!! Like who doesn’t still remember that theme song — even the remix too lol

I had wanted to be a fly girl so bad back in the day, probably cuz of THAT theme song...

Don’t forget, Heavy D also discovered SOUL FOR REAL (in constantly tagging/playing Candy Rain on my IG stories cuz it was one of my favourite songs from my younger years!)

I remember me & my lil girlfriends would be walking down Bathurst street at lunch BELTING that song out lol

And Andre produced other music related/dance movies like Honey — which until that film came out, really catapulted Jessica Alba to her fame even tho granted she did do Flipper and shit but those kids shows was like equivalent to Mickey Mouse club and shit back in those days

I also remember in one interview way back, Andre was talking about how he made like $200 a week and he decided to split that with this Israeli dude that he shared a desk with at the time, who would talk about hip hop all day long...

Well that guy was Lyor Cohen, who went on to become YouTube's global head of music — so like all the music you see and hear on YouTube, ya six degrees of separation with Andre stiiiill...

I remember this one vanity fair article from the 90s was like, there’s one name you always see coming up again and again in entertainment, and that’s Andre

Well now y’all know. I’m sure the next couple days you’ll hear soooo many stories about this man cuz he legit was LEGENDARY

And none of this even begins to touch on ALL the legends whose careers Andre managed and stuff when he was with Motown!

Like when I say this man is LEGIT responsible for launching the careers for SO. MANY. PEOPLE. that shit is an understatement!!

Just imagine leaving such a legacy to have touched SOOOOO many lives man... WOW. And so young too!

What an incredible loss man. That’s like half my impressionable years right there this man was responsible for...

I was always one of those ppl that always wanted to do and be so many things... it’s why I’ve had so many damm jobs and had such a hot foot...

But this man legit laid out the blueprint, the inspiration, the example and possibility that ONE person really and truly could do it all if they wanted

Because THAT is how much this man accomplished in such a relatively short time that he did.

What a shock to the music and film world... hell just the entire NYC popular culture scene tbh...
