I asked Little Richard a question at SXSW in 2004.

A: "Some days, it's 'whoa whoa.' Some days, it's 'woo woo.' Some days, it's 'boo boo.' It's hard being Little Richard. Sometimes I wonder how I made it."

Devote yourself to learning how to play your instrument and work hard at it. "Don't do it just because it sells... don't cheat yourself." And when it comes to business, "Sign your own checks." And then he added, "Sign your checks." And then he said it several more times.
Other choice words of wisdom from Little Richard included: "Remember this: The grass is greener on the other side, but it's just as hard to cut."
