Imagine supporting this man and still expecting other people to respect you.
More to the point it’s a president’s job to not trundle off like a tased honey bear just because his feelings got bruised by a reporter who dared question his actions and statements.
I've considered it closely and wow yes, both sides ARE at fault, both the president who demands all authority and refuses all responsibility, and the reporters who ask him to explain his results without 1st making sure their tone is adequately deferential
In truth, aside from the group of true believers who w/ conscious bad intent engaged in decades of deliberate political vandalism, malicious propaganda, and emotional terrorism, nothing's been more corrosive to our political life than the normalizing "both sides" equivocator.
A "both sides" argument is very seldom offered in service of thoughtful consideration of a nuanced and complex issue.

A "both sides" argument is almost always presented as a way to confuse the worse side with the better one, in favor of the worse.

It's pretty obvious to discern
If a "both sides" is well-meaning, it's usually going to be an inward journey, examining both closely.

But usually it's just "yeah but the other side did this other thing so"

It's not a call to look deeper at both, but to look away from the worse one.
