Boom! 1️⃣ found $6,007,842 for you, by disbanding the Gun Violence Reduction Team and ending the racist outcomes that their team has had for decades on black and brown community members.
2️⃣ (you're going to love this one) there's $4,357,372 that is today going to the Transit Police. Have you been paying attention this year?! We're going to get free transit, making the demeaning and discouraging presence of armed officers totally unnecessary.
3️⃣ Let's talk for a minute about School Resource Officers and the the $3,963,971 they're sucking up in the budget. How many students, parents, teachers, and community members need to say we don't want cops in our schools, driving the school to prison pipeline? Just say no 2 SRO.
4️⃣ Public safety support specialists ($1,159,293): We were skeptical of this program (and their weird polos) when it started, but we do support fewer armed officers interacting with the public. However since they've been relegated to desk duties PS3s seem like a bad investment.
5️⃣ do we really need the portions of the $583,237 Communications or $2,885,072 Community Engagement budgets that are basically devoted to copaganda and copwashing? How many tweets of police officers playing basketball with kids can we really take in a year??
6️⃣ Why is the Mayor devoting increased overtime for cops on the heels of a recent audit showing massive misuse and mismanagement of very expensive overtime? And why does the the police budget say that increased overtime is necessary to police election year protests? 😱
