You will never ever ever bring about real change from inside the system unless you're willing to be smeared and hated by your party leadership and corporate media. And I haven't seen a single elected lefty who is truly comfortable with that.
All of the institutions perpetuating the status quo (media, party leadership, big business etc) are deeply unpopular. Their agenda is directly counter to what opinion polls show the American people want. Point that out, make your enemies known & the solutions known.
The only power the left has is derived from the grassroots. You have to harness the outsider energy and use it against the system. You can't play the game from within the system and win. You're not as good at it and you don't have the numbers to.
Of the few real leftists in power they're scared of revenge from party leadership and they're also scared of negative press. What they don't get is they can always punch back! Air out the dirty laundry of the party trying to get you to fall in line! Respond to media smears!
Yeah, all of this is difficult. So what! Do your job, represent the people and fight back against the enemies of progress. ALL of the enemies of progress not just the ones it's fashionable to bash.
If Pelosi won't even allow a vote on m4a what use is it being polite to her & being in her good graces? Is it all for a committee assignment? How about directly calling her out & when she snubs you, CALL THAT OUT TOO! You'd be surprised how powerful you are if you just try!
Very few people on the left embrace the fact that there's a war for the soul of the dem party. You can't unify w/ those who opposes your core values & policy priorities. We have to embrace the civil war and fight for our side, or just pretend there isn't one & keep getting rolled
