I put together two tutorials on data simulation, one for R and one for SPSS. I demonstrate how to simulate data for a moderated regression, multilevel model, and structural equation model. [Links in the next 2 tweets]

There are lots of packages you can use to simulate data that does it way easier than what I demonstrate in these tutorials. This is not meant to be a pragmatic tutorial, more of a hacker’s guide.
The tutorial is meant to teach the building blocks of data simulation, and hopefully in turn provide a peek under the hood. If you internalize what is demonstrated here, then you should be able to figure out how to simulate novel things.
It is still a “Beginner’s Guide,” though, because it is written for someone who has not simulated data before the tutorial. However, you do need to be familiar with either at least the general linear model/regression and either R or SPSS.
Enjoy! 🍽🤗
