OUR BIDEN STORY:

3. Reade's attorney gave us/clarified a few new things. He said she believes the assault happened between the Russell Building and/or Capitol.

(She declined our interview request, but he provided detailed answers to questions via email.)

4. We spoke with a former coworker of Reade's, Ben Savage, who sat next to her. He says she was fired for performance issues that he witnessed and spoke up about. Reade's attorney says this is not true, that she was pushed out as retaliation.

5. All 74 former staffers we spoke with (62 were women), said they never experienced any uncomfortable behavior from Biden. They said Reade shld be heard but her allegation is counter to what they know.

These are staffers at all levels from 1972 - 2016.

6. The former Biden staffers raise some memories that contradict aspects of Reade's story, others that corroborate.

SO, let me tweet out some good facts on this.
UNEMPLOYMENT HELP in the bill:
- $600 more per week per person
- For 13 weeks more than now
- When does that start? It may depend on the states, each has to stand up its process/method.
- But it will be 1 week faster than usual. Feds paying for that.
DIRECT PAYMENT - THOSE $1200 checks in the bill:
- $1200 per adult plus $500 per child
- For singles, no kids making less than $75K
- For singles with kids making less than $112,500
- For married couples, making less than $150K

As the only reporter in the Senate chamber for all that - let me just say WOW.

I’ve seen a lot, never seen anything quite like that.

Need to send notes to my newsroom, etc. Then will tweet more.
Senate chamber boils over.

- Sen. Collins asked to speak, Schumer objected.
- Sen. Cotton shouted, "C'mon", "This is bullshit!"
- Collins walked thru her row to Schumer - stood a foot or so away, finger pointed, exclaimed, "you are objecting to my speaking? This is appalling!"

- Republicans were now nearly all standing, loudly voicing anger.
- Schumer was trying to sort out, with his staff, how to communicate what he was doing. (He wanted to ask about schedule and offer some votes but notably seems he had not signaled that to the GOP beforehand).

Here is how Republicans reacted, generally, to some of the most notable parts of @RepAdamSchiff.

Effect: Strong. It was clear the entire room was listening, not moving.
@RepAdamSchiff 2. (Re "no quid pro quo") "That is part of the well-known principle that if a defendant said he didn't do it, he couldn't have done it."

Effect: Democrats loved it, laughed. On GOP side, Graham and Sasse smiled and laughed too.
