Surah Az-Zukhruf

Zukhruf meaning golden decoration pieces (because of v.35).

Main theme: to prove the Quranic message and to refute criticisms leveled against both the message and the messenger.

Surah again begins by describing the Quran.

V.20 a deep theological verse responding to the argument of the disbelievers: Allah has willed us not to believe and is pleased with us.

There argument is that because something exists, it must mean Allah is pleased with it.

The response: you have no knowledge of what you speak.

You have to differentiate between Allah’s creation and Allah’s approval.

Allah only loves certain things. Thus, we should channel our urges along with those things that Allah loves.

V.13-14 Dua’a when we start a journey

We thank Allah for giving us dominion over whatever mode of transport we are using.

An important sociological verse:

We have allocated their livelihood and careers - how they are going to live, how they are going to earn. Some have been granted different levels than others so that some amongst them must take the service of other groups.

Each person has something they can give. And each person needs something from others.

Created society in this way in His wisdom.

But the verse ends saying, this world means nothing. It is the mercy of Allah that is infinitely better than anything in this world.

Whatever your socioeconomic rank in this world, it means nothing in the akhira.

This surah also mentions stories of Ibrahīm, Musa, and Isa AS. V.57 onwards. It is the most explicit mention of the second coming of Isa AS.

Isa is the sign of the day of judgement! (meaning his return)

Conclusion of surah v.67 with terrifying descriptions of the day of judgement.

On the day of judgement, the best of friends will be the worst of enemies except for the people of taqwa.

Friendship on Allah, from Allah, based on taqwa will benefit you on that day.

Choose people of piety as friends so you can be with them in this world and in the next!

There are also beautiful descriptions of Jannah. Enter Jannah, you and your spouses. There will be trays of gold. Whatever your souls desire. Whatever delights your eyes.

Your actions caused you to earn this Jannah.

Meanwhile the people of Jahannam are begging the angel of Jahannam named Malik “ya Malik, have your Lord destroy us”.

Malik will respond “you are staying here, this is your forever abode. We came to you with the truth but you hated the truth.”
