I am a writer for an online blog, Authentic Medicine. I recently wrote a piece that struck a chord. Not unusual, my writing tends to be a bit controversial. Much of the subject area centers around the unsupervised practice of non-physician practitioners(PAs/NPs). I do not believe
2)they, or anyone else, should be practicing medicine unsupervised. It is practicing medicine w/o a medical license. The fact that a doctor states this does not indicate the physician is anti-NPP, but that is the spin. I'm pro-patient. My oath and license requires that if someone
3)is practicing medicine w/o a license, it is not safe for the public and I must speak up. I educate the public(and other physicians)about the differences in education and curriculums. I advise them that there is no alternate pathway or shortcut. Now, many NPPs do not appreciate
4)this. Well, it is what it is. They can rebut, it's a free country. But here's what they cannot do. Harass, dox, threaten, bully, etc. because they disagree with my opinion. I cannot abide attempts to intimidate, all it does is irritate me. I have never engaged in this behavior
5)because it is asinine. I have no desire to cause someone to lose their job over a difference of opinion, it is unnecessary and unwarranted. Many times I have been called a bully in this forum, by NPPs and physicians alike, despite the fact that it is not at all my style.
