1. Twitter

The vast majority of people find me on Twitter. It's the town square of the Internet and an always-on conference where I make friends, grow my audience, and share what's on my mind.

Twitter is the top of the funnel for my professional life.

2. Essays

Long-form writing is my favorite art form. It's the hardest thing I do, but also the most rewarding. In the past year, I've written four essays longer than 10,000 words. Combined, they've been read more than 250,000 times and transformed my worldview.

What would a 6-month curriculum for knowledge workers look like?

Here’s an idea:

• Build a note-taking system
• Learn to write
• Build a personal website
• Nail the basics of design
• Make “inbox zero” a habit

Write well, build an audience, learn to organize your ideas.
Knowledge work is nothing like industrial work.

But knowledge work culture doesn’t reflect that. People focus too much on their day-to-day tasks at the expense of meta-skills — which take time to build but give you tremendous leverage over your attention

Schools aren’t built to train knowledge workers.

And yet, thousands of them enter the workforce every year. Everybody’s focused on coding — which is a small fraction of the economic pie.

What about writing, design, knowledge management, audience building, and public speaking?
