For people who want continuity on this historically (and to this day) bipartisan committee, Rubio was the best choice.

He’s expected to largely continue Burr’s bipartisan approach to the Russia investigation.

A few days after Trump calls him out, McConnell on Senate floor right now talking about FISA, saying it was abused to “snoop on a presidential campaign.”
McConnell also goes after Judge Emmet Sullivan, the judge in the Flynn case, whom he says “has taken it upon himself to go browsing” after DOJ dropped the case.
McConnell today embraced Trump’s posture on the Russia probe in a way he never really has before:

“You’re not crazy or a conspiracy theorist if you see a pattern of institutional unfairness toward this president. You would have to be blind not to see one.”

Confirmed: State Dept IG Steve Linick was also looking into Trump’s emergency declaration to sell arms to Saudi Arabia.

“We don’t have the full picture yet, but it’s troubling that Secretary Pompeo wanted Mr. Linick pushed out before this work could be completed,” Rep Engel says
The emergency declaration was intended to sidestep congressional approval for the arms sales, which had cratered in the aftermath of Saudi Arabia’s killing of Jamal Khashoggi.

JUST IN: Sen. @ChuckGrassley on Trump’s firing of State Dept IG Steve Linick.

He says Trump’s stated reasoning for the firing is not sufficient, echoing his message to Trump after the Atkinson firing.
Trump has still not responded to Grassley’s letter seeking an explanation for the Atkinson firing. That response was due on April 13, more than a month ago. politico.com/amp/news/2020/…
