Thread. Per @JStein_WaPo @byHeatherLong, Trump Administration economists think lawmakers have "a little bit of luxury to wait and see" before doing more to address the COVID-19 human & economic crisis.

Here are some people lacking that luxury: 1/
The ~1 in 5 mothers of young children who say their children aren't eating enough -- & the very many other families facing sharply increased food insecurity.

cbpp.org/blog/covid-19-…:
The tens of millions of people who have lost a job. Including those among the 28% of jobs lost in the lowest-paid industries, & people in communities locked out of full economic opportunity even at the best of times:

cbpp.org/blog/people-al…:
Millions have lost employer health coverage. Some are protected by Affordable Care Act coverage --and policymakers should also act to protect Medicaid & strengthen ACA marketplace access & affordability to keep uninsured rates from rising:
The need for further relief is exceptional and severe across so many areas:

And it's economic malpractice to not act swiftly to avoid deep lasting harm to the economy.

Federal Chair Powell has been highlighting those long-lasting costs of inaction.

There's no "luxury" of waiting for the people & economy on the train & facing harm now & in the future from failure to do what's needed. /end
