You don't have to be a bad person to benefit from nasty institutions or unwarranted privilege. - @JacobTobia

So much this! A White woman doesn't have to be a Karen to benefit from her Whiteness. I'm not mad at White people but damn I work twice as hard for half as much.
I spend half of my brain power staying save and waste even more worrying that my Black husband won't be safe in the world. I foolishly try to create a safe space for my beautiful biracial blaxian daughters knowing full well that 1 or both will be sexually assulted.
I am beyond highly educated and credentialed in my field but I'm so other that despite an institution being able to check off at least 2 diversity boxes I don't fit their bill. I'm not ashamed to study homeschooling and question public school policies but it cost me.
In a world where I'm already so many steps behind I have basically black-balled myself because I have to be true to me.
In a world where Karen gets her haircut and half a million for standing up to the man; I am punished for questioning the status quo. But here is the silver
Lining: I am working at an HBCU that actually is proud to have me. I am respected. I am asked for my opinion and hear. I get to work with the leaders of tomorrow who will be part of the generation that refuse to be allowed to be punished for being authentic.
Kindness does win. I honor myself views and authentic self and it may cost me in dollars but I win in kindness. I love what I do. I love myself more each day. I am kind to myself so then I can spread kindness like COVID-19.
