We made this papier mache landscape, for the next stage of our ecology lessons. I have to confess that sustaining energy levels in our home schooling is becoming quite difficult. But I'm hoping we can use it to explore a load of fascinating processes.
By my reckoning, the paper, glue, sellotape and paint we used cost a total of £3.
It hope it will help us explore stratigraphy, topography, the temperature gradient and the treeline, the water cycle, erosion and sedimentation, river dynamics, gallery forest, savannahs and wetlands. But right now I just want to be walking through whatever wild landscape this is

So, to believe the story that Gove, Cummings and Johnson have spun between them, you must now believe several contradictory claims. But no intellectual contortions are too humiliating for some Conservative MPs and pundits, who dutifully repeat whatever they're told.
That's the weird thing about modern Conservatism. The rhetoric is all about "standing on your own two feet", "going it alone", "freedom" and "independence". But in practice, they just do what they're told, however preposterous the order may be.
There must be a queue of Tory MPs anxiously phoning the whips, asking "which of these contradictory lies are we promoting today?".

George Orwell said that "The lady in the Rolls-Royce car is more damaging to morale than a fleet of Goering's bombing planes." In other words, if the elite excuses itself from the national effort, that effort is dangerously undermined. Cummings must resign theguardian.com/politics/2020/…
Correction. Cummings must be sacked. If Johnson can't immediately demonstrate that the rules apply to everyone, and he is prepared to enforce them, this is his scandal too.
If you could be fined for sunbathing in your local park, why did the police take no action against a potentially infectious man travelling 264 miles to stay in another home, and back again, putting other people at significant risk?

Yes, the UK was prepared for the coronavirus. Then Boris Johnson's government knowingly and deliberately de-prepared us.

Having brought all the evidence together, I feel like crying over the waste and loss of it all.
Just so sad and angry.
