If you are proficient with Python, even if it takes a year to piece things together and build an infrastructure, it will pay off very well.

I have heard of some prop firms, family offices (some in Chat with traders and Better System Trader) use Amibroker. It has a huge learning curve in terms of the AFL language, and it's a bit arcane - but that's why it works, based on the C++-like language in speed.
So, while Python gives you the ability to cherry pick high quality libraries to use (TALib, Pandas, Backtrader, etc.) and even fork and customise it to your liking, it's time consuming. If you have to learn a language from scratch and get to live soon, amibroker it is.
But if you're looking at the longevity of what you'd like to do in trading, hands down go with Python, need not deal with any haughty people on the amibroker forums, coz you know your code in and out. If you're learning something from scratch, go with Python.
