The typical strategy for voters faced with two unsavory candidates is to choose the lesser villain. An alternative approach is to choose:

3. whatever you want to minimize.

People will have various minimization preferences. Some will select the least immoral candidate; others prefer a predictable bad guy with whom they can deal. Others want politicians they fear the least.
